Bringing the Outdoors In

Seriously, this blog should be called "Creatively Me & My MOM" I love bouncing ideas off of her. On Sunday, we were playing around with the tablescape for our family dinner. Because it was a last minute idea, we used simple things we had lying around the house.... but honestly, some of the cutest tablescapes are the ones that are simplistic and inexpensive.  We brought the outdoors in and added a little fun to the kitchen table.
OUR TABLESCAPE INCLUDED:
 fresh meadow tea

candles, terracotta pot holders & coffee beans

 {this is my favorite part}
my dad drilled some holes in pieces of birchwood  then we stuck in some fern leaves

I hope our little project sparked some inspiration, happy tablescaping!

Closet Makeover

My parents have completed so many cute projects around their home, I just can't help but share them on my blog.. (this project is one of my favorites).

Our old dining room was turned into what we all call, "the coffee room." My parents got the creative idea to turn the junk filled closet into usable counter space. At our local re-use it store they found an inexpensive counter top and tiles. Pair that with a few cupboard doors and coffee pots and you have an adorable little addition to your room... much cuter than a closet.

I made these labels using painted, distressed pinewood and card stock. They are cute to set in front of the coffee pots and drinks when entertaining guests.

... All this almost makes me want to drink coffee.... mind you I said ALMOST

Summertime Ready

We have just been spoiled with BEAUTIFUL weather!! After spending the entire day outside today, i'm starting to really get antsy for summertime.  I thought i'd share some pictures from my parents property...

My mom and dad had a huge bowl and stand in our garage.  With a little bit of wire, wood and soil my husband and I turned it into an herb garden for my mom.  Mmmm fresh herbs are just so good, basil is my favorite.

Last year at this time this is what our barn looked like...

.....after many hours my dad managed to transform it into an adorable little barn. ideally they'd love to turn it into a guest home, but for now we have it filled with all of our crafts and utilize it as a work space. Not everyone has the luxury of a craft barn, and is definitely going to be one of the things I miss most after I move.

Happy spring! :)

My Wedding Decor

I finally started a blog! There's a lot to figure out, but I'm slowly getting there.

A little over a month ago I married my best friend.  The whole wedding planning process was a blast and my favorite part was figuring out the decorations. I thought I'd share a few of our ideas.

Planning a wedding for March can be tricky... you could have snow.. or you could have warm weather.  We decided to embrace the theme of spring with lots of greens, apple centerpieces and even a hand-painted watering can.

Vases filled with epsom salt and white branches lined the aisle.

I hand painted a sign to place at the head table.

"GROW old with me, the best is yet to be"

Instead of place cards I wrote names alphabetically onto an old window that had been painted with chalkboard paint.

I made table numbers- printing out a picture onto card stock and decoupaging it onto pine wood.

These were GREAT, I found the idea on pinterest and our guests loved them, way more personal than a plain thank you card.
